The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of heroes who will separate from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team features Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look out of place, but the actions of the latest installment show why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group understands precisely where to head next after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—used the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could help the group reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This results in them few options but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
